Poppy 'Giganthemum'
Poppy 'Giganthemum'
Poppies self-sow to bloom each year with flamboyant blooms and sea green jagged foliage. An essential cottage garden flower. Poppies attract all kinds of pollinators. Bees of all kinds will seek them out, often jostling each other in competition for the golden pollen. Plant in vegetable gardens to attract pollinators, then pick the seed pods on long stems for dried flower bouquets.

How To Grow:
Poppies don't like to be transplanted, so directly sow the seeds in late fall or early spring, after the danger of frost. Gently rake into the soil, and water. Or start seeds indoors weeks before last frost in a compostable pot. The seeds are very small; bottom watering is recommended until plants emerge. Poppies are annuals, but they self-seed, so you can treat them as a perennial.
