Ivory Princess Calendula (Calendula officinalis 'Ivory Princess')
A true garden gem, Ivory Princess boasts large blooms in a soft buff-yellow, reminiscent of baby duckling down. Each petal tip is gently serrated and delicately traced with brown, creating a ruffled, lace-like halo around its rich, chocolate-brown eye. The effect is both refined and charming, making it equally suited for cottage borders and elegant cut arrangements.
Calendulas are among the quickest flowers to reward from seed—often blooming in just two months. Also called English Marigold or Pot Marigold, they entice pollinators and beneficial insects. The petals are wonderfully versatile: edible for adding sunny tones to salads, useful for natural dyeing, and valued for medicinal and skincare purposes.
Pair Ivory Princess with deep burgundy scabiosa for striking drama, apricot foxglove for soft romance, or blue bachelor’s buttons for a classic country garden contrast.

HOW TO GROW:
Direct Seed (recommended): Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost. For continuous blooms, make 2–3 successive sowings 2–3 weeks apart, from summer through to heavy frost.
Transplant (alternative): Start seeds indoors 4–5 weeks before the last frost. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions before transplanting outdoors after the last frost.
Pinching: Pinching the tops of young plants can encourage a bushier habit and more blooms.
Soil Preference and Watering: Calendula prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is very adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions. Water consistently, but avoid overwatering.
Fertilizing: Fertilizing is not required for Calendula. It performs best in average to lean soil.
Harvesting: Harvest calendula flowers when they are fully open. The petals are edible and can be used to garnish salads or other dishes.
Other Tips: Calendula may self-seed if allowed to mature at season’s end.
