Purity cosmos seeds yield single snow-white flowers to lighten the dark areas of a cottage garden. Regular dead heading will encourage continuous flowering from summer into late autumn. Of all the annual plants you can grow in your cutting garden, none are more productive per square foot than cosmos. The more you cut, the more they bloom. If you want a perfect pure white, single flowered variety, then look no further. This cheerful daisy-like bloomer is an excellent choice.
Details:
QTY: 25
TYPE: Annual
SITE: Full sun
DEPTH: Cover Lightly
GERMINATION: 7-10 days at 20-22°C
HEIGHT: 42 - 48"
MATURITY: 75 - 90 Days
SPACING: 12"
PINCH: 12"
How to Grow:
Indoors (Recommended) - Sow into seedling container 5-7 weeks before last frost, covering seeds lightly. Harden-off and transplant outdoors after last frost. Direct seed - Sow after last frost, once soil temperature is above 16°C, covering seeds lightly. Pinching encourages branching. Tall varieties may benefit from some wind protection.
Harvesting/Vase Life:
Individual blooms don’t last long in the vase, about 4-6 days, but each stem is loaded with multiple blossoms that open over a period of a week. Harvest when flowers are just starting to unfurl, but haven’t fully opened in order to prevent insects from pollinating, which will help stretch the vase life by a few extra days. Flower preservative is recommended.
