Mystery Rose Forget-Me-Not (Cynoglossum amabile)

Mystery Rose is a soft, romantic take on the classic Chinese Forget-Me-Not, featuring delicate pale pink blooms atop tall, upright stems. This gentle blush tone provides a dreamy alternative to traditional blue varieties, blending beautifully into pastel-themed arrangements, cottage garden borders, or whimsical mixed beds. The airy, star-shaped flowers offer a refined, ethereal quality, making them perfect as a filler in bouquets or as a subtle splash of colour in the garden.

Well-branched and productive, Mystery Rose yields multiple flushes of cuttable stems throughout the season. Bees and other pollinators are frequent visitors, drawn to both the nectar and charm of the flowers. Also known as Chinese Hound’s Tongue or Amethyst Forget-Me-Not, this annual may self-sow under favourable conditions, bringing gentle continuity to cottage-style plantings year after year.

HOW TO GROW:
Transplant (recommended): Sow seeds indoors 3–4 weeks before your average last frost date. Cover seeds lightly. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions for 7–10 days before transplanting outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.

Direct Seed (alternative): Sow seeds directly into the garden as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring. Cover seeds lightly. Thin as needed once the first true leaves appear.

Pinching: Pinching is not necessary for Chinese Forget-Me-Not.

Soil Preference and Watering: Chinese Forget-Me-Not prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It performs best in cool weather with consistent moisture.

Fertilizing: Fertilizing is not required for Chinese Forget-Me-Not. It performs best in average to lean soil.

Harvesting: For bouquets, harvest stems when the flowers are fully open. To prevent heavy self-seeding, cut spent seed heads after flowering, unless a naturalized look is desired.
