Sunset Buff is a soft, glowing twist on the classic Indian Prince calendula, with creamy apricot petals backed by deep crimson for a stunning two-toned effect. The large, double blooms bring warmth and charm to garden beds, borders, or containers, making it a favourite for both ornamental and practical plantings.

Fast-flowering from seed—often in just two months—these easy-care annuals attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Petals are edible, can be used to dye fabrics, and are valued in herbal remedies and skincare.

HOW TO GROW:
Direct Seed (recommended): Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost. For continuous blooms, make 2–3 successive sowings 2–3 weeks apart, from summer through to heavy frost.

Transplant (alternative): Start seeds indoors 4–5 weeks before the last frost. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions before transplanting outdoors after the last frost.

Pinching: Pinching the tops of young plants can encourage a bushier habit and more blooms.

Soil Preference and Watering: Calendula prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is very adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions. Water consistently, but avoid overwatering.

Fertilizing: Fertilizing is not required for Calendula. It performs best in average to lean soil.

Harvesting: Harvest calendula flowers when they are fully open. The petals are edible and can be used to garnish salads or other dishes.

Other Tips: Calendula may self-seed if allowed to mature at season’s end.
