Bachelor's Button 'Black Ball'

This striking variety of Bachelor’s Buttons features deep, velvety maroon blooms that add a dramatic touch to both fresh and dried arrangements. An easy-to-grow annual, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Bachelor’s Buttons are a pollinator favourite and are ideal for cutting gardens, borders, or naturalized plantings. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong the flowering period and keep plants tidy. May self-seed in ideal conditions. Also known as Cornflower.

How To Grow:
Direct seed (recommended):
Sow seeds outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Cover lightly and keep the soil surface moist until emergence. Thin seedlings to 15–23 cm (6–9") apart once they have their first true leaves.

Transplant:
Start indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost. Transplant into larger containers when the first true leaves appear. Grow at 10–12 °C at night for several weeks to help develop a strong root ball.
