Clarkia Mix (Clarkia unguiculata)
Clarkia Mix offers long, graceful stems adorned with large, fully double blooms in soft shades of white, pink, and purple. These delicate, papery flowers bring a whimsical, cottage-garden charm to borders, beds, and bouquets alike. A cool-season annual, Clarkia thrives in mild temperatures and adds height, texture, and romantic movement to floral arrangements.
A versatile and reliable cut flower, this mix is admired for its heat and drought tolerance, making it an easy-care choice for both home gardens and production plots. A member of the Godetia family, Clarkia also goes by Elegant Clarkia or Mountain Garland, and pairs beautifully with pastel cosmos, cornflowers, or soft lacy foliage for a dreamy, layered effect.

HOW TO GROW:
Transplant (recommended): Sow seeds indoors 4 weeks before the last frost. Gently press seeds into the soil surface, as light aids germination. Do not cover them deeply. Seedlings prefer cool growing conditions and should not be exposed to temperatures above (). High temperatures during development may result in weak, spindly stems. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions before transplanting outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.
Direct Seed (alternative): Sow seeds directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring. Gently press seeds into the soil surface and lightly rake them in.
Pinching: Pinching is not necessary for Clarkia, as the plants naturally produce multiple stems.
Soil Preference and Watering: Clarkia prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It performs best in average to lean soil. Water consistently during germination and establishment, but once mature, it is quite drought-tolerant.
Fertilizing: Fertilizing is not required for Clarkia.
Harvesting: For bouquets, harvest stems when the bottom third of the flowers on the spike have opened.
